150 gallon drop tanks for the P-38 in 1:72 scale is a resin set from the maker Armycast that brings a pair of range tanks to a Lightning model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin accessory set for a model of the P-38 Lightning fighter in 1:72 scale. It holds drop fuel tanks of 150 gallon capacity, one of the types the Lightnings carried under the center of the wing between the fuselage nacelle and the engine booms. The set is an accessory to a model; the aircraft itself is not included.
The P-38 wrote itself into history above all as a machine of enormous range, and it was the drop tanks that made it that long-range aircraft. A model without them looks like an aircraft ready for a short sortie; with them it tells the story of the long escort flights over Europe and the Pacific. Resin tanks have two advantages over production plastic parts: they are cast in one piece, so no parting line runs along their side that would have to be laboriously removed, and they hold the smooth symmetrical shape of a body of revolution, on which every irregularity shows at once.
Separate the tanks from the casting blocks with a cut from a thin saw in a place that will be hidden once fitted. Wash the surface in lukewarm water with a little detergent, so that no mold release agent is left on it, and let it dry. Try the pylons dry and watch that both tanks sit at the same height and parallel with the axis of the aircraft - asymmetry is immediately apparent on the Lightning with its pair of booms. Cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) holds the joint. Spray a primer coat before the top color.
