Vacuum-formed canopy P-47D Bubbletop 1:72 (Rob Taurus) is a clear bubble cockpit hood with thin walls, a replacement for the part from the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory, not a model, for aircraft models of the Republic P-47D Thunderbolt with the bubble canopy in 1:72 scale. The canopy is drawn from thin clear film by the vacuum process (vacuform), which gives it finer walls and markedly higher clarity than an injection-molded part. The package usually holds several pieces, for a choice of position or as a spare.
The P-47 Thunderbolt was a massive American fighter of the Second World War with a radial engine and a rugged structure. The version with the bubble hood replaced the earlier raised rear fuselage canopy and gave the pilot an all-round view, especially to the rear. The Thunderbolt excelled both as a fighter-bomber and as an escort fighter.
Cut the canopy out with a sharp scalpel close to the outline and sand the edges down finely. For maximum gloss the part can be dipped in a gloss varnish. It is glued with clear PVA glue, or very carefully with cyanoacrylate, so that the fumes do not dull the plastic. The bubble hood stands out best on an open cockpit with the interior on show.
This is an accessory, not a model of an aircraft. The kit, the paints and the glue are not included in the package.
