A resin detail set, not an airplane kit. This finely cast resin set replaces the radial engine of the American Republic P-47 Thunderbolt fighter in 1:72 scale. The Thunderbolt was powered by the massive air-cooled Pratt and Whitney R-2800 Double Wasp radial engine. The casting brings a faithful rendering of the cylinders and the ignition harness that is hard to manage in the plastic from the box. The set is meant for advanced modelers with resin experience.
The engine can be seen through the openings in the cowling, and on models with panels removed it becomes a prominent feature. The resin casting captures the fine structure of the radial and of the drives, so once painted in metallic shades and lightly weathered it looks entirely accurate. It replaces the simplified part of the base kit.
This is a resin detail accessory, not a model. The base kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
