An injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary American P-51D Mustang fighter in 1:72 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Tamiya. The model has finely engraved panel lines on the fuselage and the wings, a detailed landing gear with its bays and a well-worked cockpit. The box offers a choice of two canopy forms, a four-blade propeller, two drop tanks and waterslide decals with illustrated instructions. The assembled model is about 136 mm long.
The North American P-51D Mustang was an American single-seat fighter of the Second World War powered by a license-built Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. The D version was marked by a bubble canopy giving a perfect all-round view, six machine guns of 12.7 mm caliber and great range thanks to drop tanks. It was precisely that range that allowed Mustangs to escort bombers deep over German territory. It ranks among the most successful fighters of its era.
Use liquid cement for plastic and finish and paint the cockpit before you close up the fuselage. Apply a primer before painting and lay the paints down with an airbrush. For natural metal schemes, metallizer paints over a smooth, polished base work well; camouflaged machines can be managed with an ordinary acrylic set. Take care to fit the bubble canopy cleanly and without glue marks.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
