This self-adhesive masking set from the Czech manufacturer Peewit is designed for the kit of the Soviet bomber Petlyakov Pe-2 from the Zvezda company in 1:72 scale. The Pe-2 is one of the machines with extensive and broken-up glazing, and that is exactly where masking cutouts save the most work. Instead of the lengthy cutting of dozens of panes out of tape, you simply transfer precisely shaped masks and spray.

The real subject

The Petlyakov Pe-2 was a Soviet twin-engine dive bomber, one of the most widely used Soviet combat aircraft of the Second World War. A fast and agile machine, it served throughout the war on the Eastern Front in the roles of bomber, reconnaissance aircraft and heavy fighter; in 1:72 scale it is a popular subject whose glazed areas are simply crying out for good masks.

Use

• Before masking, rid the glazed parts of dust and grease.
• Lift the cutouts with tweezers and settle them according to the shape of the individual panes of the glazing.
• Press the edges down carefully, especially in the hollows of the framing.
• Once the paint has been sprayed and has gone off, peel the masks off carefully; the framing will stay sharp and clean.
