An injection-molded plastic kit of the German medium tank PzKpfw IV in the Ausf. J version, that is in the last production form of this type. The model completes the maker's line of armored subjects in 1:72, in which the older versions of the same vehicle are represented as well. The particular contents of the package, the number of parts and the choice of markings are given by the instructions and the packaging of the kit.
The PzKpfw IV was a medium tank with the classic layout, that is with the gearbox and the drive sprockets at the front and the engine at the rear. The Ausf. J represents the closing production version of the last two years of the war. Against the previous Ausf. H version, production was simplified further: the auxiliary unit for the electric traverse of the turret was dropped, so that it was turned by hand from then on, and the space freed up was used for a larger supply of fuel and with it a greater range. The main armament was a long 7.5 cm gun. The vehicles carried side protective plates against shaped-charge and anti-tank fire, on later production often in the form of a lighter wire mesh.
Start with the running gear and the lower part of the hull, because once the side plates are glued on you will no longer get to the running gear. Settle the wheels dry, line them up in one plane and only then fix them. Let the tracks settle naturally on the wheels. The side protective plates are thin and easily bent, so glue them on at the end, and a slight bow or a missing piece looks realistic on a finished model. Lay a thin primer on before painting. In a small scale, lightening the base shade a little on the upper surfaces works well. Build the weathering up in layers: a dark wash into the recesses, a dry brush on the edges, pigments for dust and mud in the running gear. Do not forget a different shade for the metal-worn surfaces on the edges of the hatches.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
