A finished model is defenseless on an open shelf. Settled dust cannot be removed from a fine surface, from photo-etched parts and from stretched antennas without the risk of something bending or breaking off; a matte finish moreover lightens where it is wiped. A clear cover removes that problem right at the source: the model stays visible from every side, but nobody and nothing touches it.
The base of the case carries LED lighting. A lit model stands apart from the background of the shelf, and both its shape and the color transitions that are lost in ordinary room light come out on it. That works well with dark finishes and with models that have pronounced panel shading, where diffuse light from above leaves half the work unseen.
The area of 84 x 115 mm sets how large a model will stand in the case. Before you order the set, measure your model including the parts that project beyond the outline, that is, the propeller, the barrel or a protruding antenna. With a display case it is better to have room at the sides than to squeeze the model up against the wall of the cover. When several models in cases of the same type stand on a shelf, the collection keeps a uniform look and the individual pieces do not have to be moved during cleaning.
