The PZL P.11 came about at the start of the 1930s as an all-metal fighter with a high-mounted gull wing, for which the name Polish wing took hold. The layout gave the pilot unusually good visibility upward and forward. The aircraft was powered by an air-cooled radial engine in a narrow cowling, the landing gear was fixed and the cockpit open. The P.11c version was the most widespread production modification, with a repositioned engine mount and a reworked fuselage ahead of the cockpit. In the second half of the 1930s it was a modern machine, but by the turn of the decade the rapidly rising performance of monoplanes with retractable landing gear had overtaken it.
Seating the gull wing and the struts will take the most work, so dry-fit the angles first and only then glue. The radial engine and the fixed landing gear are the parts on view with kits like this, and they benefit from careful sanding of the parting lines and from differing shades of metal. With older molds, expect the gaps and the mating surfaces to need adjusting with filler and sanding. Paint with an airbrush over a thin primer, mask the transitions softly, and settle the decals on a gloss varnish with a decal softener.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
