The coloring is carried by the Rafale C marked 4-GR and it held for the single display season of 2021. After the two-year edition that preceded it, this is a return to the usual rhythm, in which the French Air Force dresses its display machine for one year at a time. That is exactly why such a coat tends to be in service briefly and the photographic documentation of it is a seasonal matter.
The maker has long specialized in the French Air Force, and the display Rafale machines form its most complete line. This sheet is the fourth in order and, together with the preceding two-year edition, forms a pair that has the largest printed area in 1:72 of the whole line – larger than the later years and than both of the oldest pieces from 2017 and 2018.
The neighboring numbers of the row aim elsewhere: the items immediately following cover Dutch and Belgian Falcons, and only after them does the maker return to a further display Rafale. Anyone assembling a collection by the maker's numbers will therefore get French and foreign real subjects by turns; anyone assembling it by seasons needs to pick exactly these Rafale pieces out of the block.
The carrier paper is soaked, the decal is slid onto degreased gloss varnish and the position is fine-tuned with a brush. Large areas on the fuselage and the fin sit better when a setting solution is applied under them and a softener is used from above. Once dry, a matte or semi-matte overcoat is recommended.
