The real subject is a Rafale C carrying the fuselage code 4-IM in the special coloring of the French solo display for the years 2019 and 2020. The solo display is a single-machine performance by the French Air Force, and its machine as a rule gets a new coat for every season. This single one served two years in a row, which makes it an exception in the whole sequence of display Rafale machines.
The brand keeps the display Rafale machines in 1:72 as an unbroken line. Ahead of this sheet stand the years 2017 and 2018; after it follow 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. Seven sheets thus cover eight consecutive seasons without a single gap, and it is exactly this piece that is the connecting link, without which two whole years would be missing from the gallery.
Inside the line this sheet, together with the year immediately following, belongs among the most extensively printed pieces. The schemes of the turn of the decade were richer in area than the more restrained later coats, and the extent of the print shows it; the neighboring years 2022 and 2023 are noticeably more sparing. The same motif is issued by the maker alongside in a larger size as well, so the same machine can be built twice side by side.
The set will appeal to modelers who want the French display scheme documented year by year. The decals are lifted off the backing in water and laid onto a smooth gloss varnish. The broken-up vertical tail surface of the Rafale will call for a softener, so that the large-area motif settles without folds.
