Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German heavy half-track vehicle Sd.Kfz.9/1 (FAMO) with the 6-ton slewing crane (Drehkran) in the early version, in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. It is a richly broken-down set with a large number of parts, one-piece tracks as well as an alternative of separate links, and a decal sheet. The crane can be built in the travel position or in the working position and slews all the way round.
The Sd.Kfz.9, nicknamed FAMO, was the heaviest German half-track tractor of the Second World War. It served as an artillery tractor and for recovering heavy vehicles; it was powered by a strong gasoline engine. The 9/1 version carried a slewing crane with a 6-ton capacity, with which the vehicle handled assembly and recovery work in the field, for instance changing tank engines. The early version differs in details of the crane and of the superstructure.
Given the high number of parts, follow the instructions sub-assembly by sub-assembly: first the chassis and the running gear, then the superstructure and the crane. Decide in advance whether to use the one-piece tracks or the separate links. Lay down primer, then the base shade with an airbrush and the weathering with washes and pigments; the crane and its cables come alive with light wear and rust in exposed places. The crane structure can be fixed in the chosen position.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
