Black Dog 1:72 Soviet ammunition boxes for 45 mm rounds is a resin set of small accessories with which the empty areas on a vehicle or on a diorama are filled.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Black Dog set is not a kit but a set of cast accessories in 1:72 scale. It contains boxes of the Soviet pattern for rounds of 45 mm caliber, that is for the ammunition used with the light guns and turrets of interwar and wartime Soviet equipment. Resin makes sense here above all because of the sharp edges and the legible handles, which in injected plastic at such a small size would merge into shapeless blocks.
A vehicle in 1:72 scale built from the kit alone typically has empty fenders, body and deck. Boxes of ammunition are the quickest way to fill an area so that it makes sense: boxes placed about suggest that the machine has just been replenishing its supplies, and above all they break up the uniform color of a large area. On a diorama the same works on the ground beside a gun, on the bed of a truck or as scattered clutter beside a dugout. The castings can be used closed and stacked as well as laid individually at an angle.
Cut the small castings from the casting block with a sharp cutter over a mat, so that they do not fly off on you. Work with tweezers, as at this size fingers only get in the way. Before painting, wash the parts in warm water with a detergent because of the release agent from the mold. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, and a small drop is amply enough. In color a base tone, a dark wash in the gaps and a light rubbing of the edges with a dry brush look good, because it was precisely the edges of the boxes that wore first in service. Leave the lettering on the boxes rather suggested, as in 1:72 legible text looks false.
This is an accessory set, not a model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
