Zvezda 1:72 Soviet assault sappers is a set of plastic figures for adding to models and dioramas of the Second World War period.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of plastic figures in 1:72 scale from the maker Zvezda. It is not a model of a vehicle but an accessory that will bring a display case, a diorama or a tabletop game to life. The 1:72 scale is one of the most widespread for figures and vehicles of the Second World War, so the set combines easily with other models of the same size.
Soviet assault engineer units were formed in the second half of the war as specialized formations intended to overcome fortifications, clear obstacles and fight in built-up terrain. They differed from ordinary infantry in their training, in their equipment for engineer work and in some cases in a steel breastplate as well. Their kit therefore differs from that of a standard infantryman, and in model form it makes a rewarding accessory for scenes from the last years of the war.
Figures in a small scale call for careful cleanup of the parting lines with a sharp knife, so that the detail does not get damaged. It pays to paint them mounted on a stick and to attach them to a base only at the end. What works best is a sequence running from the base color through the main areas of the uniform to drybrushing the edges and a fine dark wash, which in a small scale gives the figure the contrast it needs. Choose rather muted shades and vary them slightly between the individual figures, so that the group does not come across as monotonous.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
