The Boxer Uprising broke out in northern China at the turn of the century and was directed against foreign influence and against Christian missions. In 1900 an international coalition of eight powers, Russia among them, intervened in the fighting, and the campaign culminated in the relief of the besieged legations in Peking. The Russian infantry was among the strongest elements of this intervention, so it is a subject with a well-readable basis and at the same time one aside from the usual modeling themes.
Figures in 1:72 scale, that is in the most widespread scale for mass scenes. At this scale a whole detachment can be set up in an area where two or three figures would fit in 1:35 scale, which is the main reason why builders of battle scenes and players of tabletop games reach for it. The exact number of figures and their poses are stated on the box.
Wash and degrease the figures before painting, and cut the excess material and the production traces off carefully with a sharp blade. Apply the paint in thin coats; at a reduction of 1:72 thick paint is the first thing to swallow up the modeled detail. A proven procedure is a base shade, a darker emphasis of the folds and drybrushing on the edges. Even the uniforms of the start of the century out in a subdued tone so that the set holds together.
For builders of dioramas as well as for players of tabletop battles. The figures are supplied unpainted. Paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
