Spitfire antenna 1:72 (Quickboost)

A resin detail part, not an airplane kit. This finely cast resin antenna (aerial mast) replaces the thicker, less well shaped plastic part from the base kit of the British Spitfire fighter in 1:72 scale. The casting has a more faithful profile and is ready to be glued on once the casting block is cut off.

The real subject and what the part is for

The Supermarine Spitfire was a British single-seat fighter of the Second World War with a distinctive elliptical wing and a V12 Rolls-Royce Merlin engine, later the Griffon. It became famous in the Battle of Britain and served on all the main fronts. The aerial mast behind the pilot area is a small but conspicuous element of the silhouette, so a finer casting raises the fidelity of a finished model without any need to sand down a thick plastic part.

Usage tips

• Wash the parts free of mold release residue in lukewarm soapy water
• Cut off the casting block and clean up the surface with respiratory protection
• Glue with cyanoacrylate glue; cement for plastic will not hold on resin
• Place the small part with tweezers and hold it until the glue sets
