A photo-etched metal set for a model of the Su-27K carrier-based fighter in 1:48 scale. The metal parts take on the shapes for which injection-molded plastic is too thick.
Responsibility details are not available.
This photo-etched metal set is intended for a model of the Su-27K in 1:48 scale. The point of photo-etch is simple: metal sheet may be as thin as it would be in reality, whereas an injection-molded part has to have a certain thickness because of the mold. On grilles, loops, buckles, plates and covers that difference is visible on a finished model even without a magnifier.
The Su-27K is the carrier-based version of the Soviet heavy fighter Su-27, carried in service under the designation Su-33. Against the land-based version it received folding wings and folding horizontal tail surfaces, so that the machine would fit below decks, along with strengthened landing gear for hard touchdowns, an arrestor hook and a pair of small horizontal surfaces ahead of the wing. The aircraft took off from the deck up a ski-jump ramp, not from a catapult.
Cut through the tabs that hold the parts on the sheet with a sharp blade on a hard surface. They cannot be broken out, as the part would bend and straighten badly. Level the remains of the tab with a fine file, stroking away from the part. Make the bend along the marked score over the edge of a steel ruler or in a bending tool, ideally in a single movement. The metal is glued with cyanoacrylate applied in drops; cement for polystyrene does not hold on it. Degrease the surface before painting and lay a primer over it. The layout of the parts is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The kit of the aircraft, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
