Replacement Quickboost exhausts for a Spitfire Mk. XIV model in 1:72 scale, in the form with the mouth flared into a fishtail shape.
Responsibility details are not available.
Replacement exhaust parts from Quickboost for a model of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk. XIV in 1:72 scale, in the form with the mouth flared into a fishtail shape. They replace the exhausts from the kit. On replacement parts the mouths are usually cleaner and thinner than on the part from the box, and because they sit along the sides of the forward fuselage at the viewer's eye level, the result shows clearly on a model.
The Spitfire Mk. XIV was the step from the Merlin engines to the more powerful Rolls-Royce Griffon V12. The engine was longer and heavier, so the aircraft received a longer nose, a larger vertical tail and a propeller with more blades. It was the installation of that engine that also brought a different form of exhaust stub from the one the older versions carried.
First try the parts dry in the openings of the engine cover and only then glue them. Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the rest so that the rows of exhausts seat straight and both sides stay symmetrical. The parts are not polystyrene, so polystyrene cement has no effect on them; use super glue. Wash and degrease the surface before painting. The exhausts are painted apart from the fuselage and fitted last, otherwise the metal shade and the soot easily smear over the surrounding paint.
The delivery consists of the replacement exhaust parts for this item. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
