Vacuum-formed Spitfire Mk.Ia canopy 1:72 (Rob Taurus) is a crystal-clear replacement for the cockpit canopy of the early Spitfire version, with thin walls.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory, not a model, for aircraft models of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.Ia in 1:72 scale. The canopy is drawn from thin clear film by the vacuum forming process (vacuform), so it has finer walls and greater optical clarity than the injection-molded part from the box. The package usually holds several pieces, giving a choice of the open and the closed position or a spare piece.
The Spitfire Mk.I was the first production form of the legendary British fighter, with its elliptical wing and the Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. The Ia version carried eight 7.7 mm machine guns and was committed in the early stages of the Second World War, the Battle of Britain among them. The framed sliding canopy is typical of the early Spitfires.
Cut the canopy out with a sharp scalpel close to the outline and sand the edges down finely. For maximum gloss the part can be dipped in gloss varnish. It is bonded with clear PVA glue or, very carefully, with super glue, so that the fumes do not dull the plastic. The frames are masked and sprayed at the end.
This is an accessory, not an aircraft model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
