Quickboost Spitfire Mk.IX cockpit door 1:72 resin accessory

This is a resin add-on set from Quickboost, not an airplane model. It contains a separately cast cockpit entry door for the Spitfire Mk.IX fighter, with finely rendered relief on the inner and the outer face. The part replaces the corresponding plastic element of the kit and makes it possible to show the door open with faithful detail. Made for 1:72 scale.

The real subject

The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX was a British single-seat fighter with the Rolls-Royce Merlin 60 series engine, which once again evened the odds against the German fighters of the middle phase of the Second World War. It is one of the best known and most numerously built Spitfire versions.

Fitting and painting

• Wash the mold release residue off the part and lightly sand the mating surfaces.
• Cut the casting block off with a fine saw or a knife, and do the sanding with respiratory protection.
• Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue); plastic cement does not hold on resin.
• Apply a primer before painting and spray the part with an airbrush to match the rest of the interior.
