A decal sheet with technical stencils and small lettering for models of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.IX and Mk.IXc in 1:72 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The sheet is focused on technical stencils, that is on the small lettering which every machine carried regardless of its unit: markings for the fuel and oil filler necks, warnings by the guns and by the towing eyes, instructions for the ground crew, reference markings for jacking and the walkways on the wing. It is intended for models of the Spitfire Mk.IX and Mk.IXc in 1:72 scale. National insignia and the markings of particular machines tend to be on separate sheets; this is the layer of lettering that takes a model to the last detail.
The Spitfire Mk.IX arose as a quick answer to the German Focke-Wulf Fw 190 fighter, which over the English Channel had outgrown the Mk.V then in service. A Rolls-Royce Merlin 60 series twelve-cylinder with a two-stage supercharger was fitted into the proven airframe, and with it the aircraft regained the upper hand at high altitude. The letter c in the designation Mk.IXc refers to the universal wing, which made it possible to put the armament together as needed. The variant was among the most widespread of all Spitfires.
The base under a decal should be smooth, glossy and degreased; on a matte surface a whitish silvering arises under the film. Separate the decal, soak it briefly and let it stand until it can be slid on the backing paper. Transfer it to the model, press the water out with a soft cloth and let it dry completely. The soaking time, the possible use of a softener and the recommended procedure are given in the instructions enclosed with the sheet.
The model, paints, varnish and softener are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
