Ammunition boxes for 100 mm rounds for the SU-100 in 1:72 scale are a resin accessory from the manufacturer Black Dog, intended to bring the interior or the surroundings of a tank destroyer model to life.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a model of a vehicle but an accessory set. The content is boxes for 100 mm artillery ammunition together with the rounds, that is exactly the kind of small equipment that turns a finished model into a believable scene. It comes into its own inside the fighting compartment on a model with an open interior, on the hull as a stowed load, or loose in a vignette beside the vehicle.
The SU-100 was a Soviet tank destroyer of the Second World War built on the chassis of the T-34 medium tank with a 100 mm gun in a fixed superstructure. Ammunition of that caliber was carried in wooden boxes, which crews often left stacked around a position or on the vehicle itself. Empty and full boxes, caps and scattered rounds are among the typical elements of period photographs, and in 1:72 scale it is precisely this small material that gives a scene its scale.
Wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with dish soap and cut the casting blocks away with a sharp knife or a fine saw; in a small scale work carefully, as the parts are tiny. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). The wood of the boxes looks good when a darker glaze or an oil paint is drawn over a light brown base to bring the grain of the planks out; the metal parts of a round are best sprayed brass first and knocked back with a dark glaze. Finally add dust with pigment so that the load fits the overall patina of the vehicle.
The set is an accessory, not a vehicle kit. It is supplied unpainted; glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
