The first sheet of a two-part theme from Star Decals, intended for small models in 1:72 scale. It is bounded by the year 1943 and takes in Tigers of the initial, early and mid production runs.
The designation s.Pz.Abt. 503 belonged to an independent heavy tank battalion armed with Tiger I tanks, which fought on the Eastern Front. The year 1943 is characteristic for its hardware in the way several production states run alongside one another: the oldest examples still carried elements of the original version, while the machines added as replacements already arrived in a later arrangement. That is precisely why it makes sense to have the markings for the given period together on one sheet.
Put the cut-out piece into lukewarm water and let it soak for a few tens of seconds. As soon as the membrane begins to slide over the paper, transfer it with tweezers or the tip of a brush onto the model and pull the paper out from under the decal. It is better not to touch the membrane with your fingers; it tears easily. Fine-tune the position with a soft brush while there is still a layer of water under the decal. Do not throw the backing paper away straight after pulling it out; now and then a small insignia stays stuck to it.
