A figure set in 1:72 scale from the maker Red Box. According to the name it depicts members of the United States Marines in the clothing of 1900, that is from the time of the Boxer Uprising. It is not a model of equipment but figures for dioramas and for the gaming table.
At that time the Marines formed a landing party, that is a unit put ashore from ships and operating from the coast or from a river landing place. That is exactly what sets this set apart from the figures of army infantry of the same line, even though both fall within the same year. The clothing matches the field uniform of the turn of the century: a tunic and trousers, canvas equipment with pouches and a belt, and a soft field head covering. The armament consists of a repeating rifle with a bayonet.
They are painted with a brush, and an airbrush will serve at most for the primer. Wash the figures in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry, then apply a primer with good adhesion, and on soft plastic optionally a flexible one so that the paint does not crack when they bend. Paint the field uniform as a continuous area and only then move on to the equipment. A dark wash will bring out the folds and the gaps between the items of equipment, and fine drybrushing will pull the edges out. Set the straps and the rifle stock apart in brown shades, and suggest the metal parts with a dark metal without a sheen so that a small figure does not look metallic all over.
The figures are supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
