A turned metal pitot tube for American aircraft of the Second World War in 1:72 scale, a replacement for the thicker plastic part from the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The pitot tube is one of those small things that on a real aircraft project from the leading edge of the wing or from the nose of the fuselage. It feeds the pressure of the oncoming air to the airspeed indicator, so it has to be thin, slender and out of the flow disturbed by the fuselage. On a model it is for that very reason one of the most conspicuous details of the silhouette.
This is a part machined from metal, not a plastic casting. Metal takes a thickness that an injection mold could not manage, and unlike plastic it does not bend at the first touch. The particular type of aircraft it is intended for is given in the manufacturer's data sheet.
It suits builders who dislike oversized plastic tubes and want to complete a model with a part that resists bending. The model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise; check the contents of the package and the number of pieces in the manufacturer's data sheet.
