An injection-molded plastic kit of the experimental aircraft Bartini Beriev VVA-14 in 1:72 scale from the manufacturer Modelsvit. The model is made up of injection-molded plastic parts, clear parts and a decal sheet; depending on the edition a masking film is included as well. The exact make-up of the contents is described in the enclosed instructions.
The VVA-14 was a Soviet experimental machine designed by Robert Bartini in cooperation with the Beriev bureau in the 1970s. It was an unusual aircraft that combined the qualities of an airplane and of a machine using ground effect, meant to take off from the water and fly just above it. It stayed at the prototype and development stage. Its unusual shape is one of the striking subjects of the Cold War.
The large and complex shape of the fuselage calls for careful fitting and cleaning up of the joints. Paint the interior before closing it. The large areas are handled well with an airbrush on a primed surface; the contrasting shades of the underside and the upper surfaces come out well after masking. Lay the decals on a gloss varnish and tie the surface together at the end. Models of this kind reward a sturdy stand or plenty of space in a display case.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
