Injection-molded plastic kit of the shipborne naval helicopter Westland Lynx Mk.88 of the German Navy in 1:72 scale from Hobby Boss. The model offers finely engraved panel lines and riveting, a complete cockpit and interior, separately molded doors and an optional configuration of the nose section. In the box there are plastic parts, clear parts and a decal sheet with German schemes.
The Westland Lynx Mk.88 was the export naval version of the British Lynx helicopter delivered to the German Navy. It operated from the decks of frigates for search duties, against surface targets and for rescue work. Its equipment included anti-ship missiles and, in the later configuration, a forward sensor turret. The identifying features of the Lynx are its fixed wheeled landing gear and four-blade main rotor.
Decide on the configuration of the nose section and assemble the rotor head with the four-blade main rotor and the tail rotor. Paint the cockpit and the interior before you close up the fuselage; the separate doors can be shown open. Glue the clear glazing in place at the end and mask the frames; glue the landing gear, the armament and the small parts with thin cement for plastic applied drop by drop. A primer and an airbrushed naval gray are the way to go; a dark wash will bring the engraved lines to life and dust or salt effects will give it an in-service feel.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
