Resin wheels for the Yakovlev Yak-38 Forger in 1:72 scale from Armory will replace the plastic kit wheels with a casting with a clean shape and a crisp tread.
Responsibility details are not available.
An accessory for building a model, not a kit of the aircraft. The set contains resin landing gear wheels with which the plastic parts are replaced during the build. Carrier machines often have strengthened landing gear because of the hard touchdown on the deck, and the wheel is therefore a more prominent item on which a simplified shape from a mold shows even on a small model.
The Yak-38, under the western code name Forger, was a Soviet carrier aircraft with vertical takeoff and landing, operated from ships from the second half of the 1970s. It combined a main engine with vectoring nozzles with a pair of lift engines placed behind the cockpit. In its day it was the only Soviet production machine of this arrangement, and its short landing gear is one of its typical features.
Wash the castings in warm soapy water so that no mold release agent is left on the surface. Cut the casting block off and level the surface. On resin it pays to use a primer, as paint otherwise holds worse on a smooth casting than on plastic and is easily rubbed off during handling. Keep the tire in a matte dark gray shade, lighten the hub and bring out the edges with a fine dry brush. Glue the wheels with cyanoacrylate only once the paint has dried.
These are replacement parts for building a model. The package does not contain paints, glue or the kit itself.
