1:72 YF-19 Battroid Macross Plus is a plastic kit of a variable fighter in humanoid mode, as the viewers of the Macross Plus series know it.

The kit captures the YF-19 machine in the so-called battroid mode, that is in a stance reminiscent of an infantryman. It is not a convertible model of the aircraft - the mold is developed directly for this form, so the figure has the right proportions and does not have to hide mechanisms for transformation inside it. The Japanese company Hasegawa has worked it in 1:72 scale, molds the parts in several colors and deals with the joints by means of polyethylene bushings, thanks to which the model can be set in poses.
The YF-19 is a prototype variable fighter from the animated series Macross Plus, released in 1994. The story follows the contest of two competing prototypes and a test pilot who flies one of them on the edge. The design of the machine with its forward-swept wings and prominent head is among the best known in the whole brand, and in battroid mode it looks unmistakable: a slender waist, massive shoulders and a shield on the forearm.
The multicolored plastic allows a handsome result to be reached even without an airbrush. Check the joints right after snapping them together - if a bushing lets a little play through, a drop of thin superglue on the mating surface will help. The white surfaces will gain depth from dark emphasis of the engraved lines, while the visor and the energy elements will come to life from a gloss coat. The position of the figure is fine-tuned at the end, ideally on a base.
The model is sold as a set of parts; you have to build it, and paint it if you wish, yourself.
