An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:88 scale. It is an anniversary release marking the anniversary of the film in which the ship first appeared. The model is built in the classic way: the parts are separated from the sprues, cleaned up and joined with cement for plastic, and the finished model is then painted. The number of parts, the contents of the decal sheet and whether a stand is included are given by the contents printed on the packaging.
Slave I is a fictional spacecraft from the Star Wars film saga, associated with the character of a bounty hunter. It is characteristic for its unusual shape, in which a flattened teardrop hull stands on its tail when landed, while in flight the whole body tips into the horizontal and the lifting surfaces swivel. It is precisely this dual stance that makes the model a rewarding object for a display case, because depending on how it is mounted it looks different every time.
The large smooth areas of the hull call for careful sanding of the joints, otherwise every step will show after spraying. Building in subassemblies, painting them separately and gluing them together only at the end works well. Apply the base shade evenly and only then deal with the wear: fine abrasion of the edges with a dry brush, dark flow into the engraved lines and discreet soot stains at the nozzles. Film hardware tends to be deliberately shabby, but keep the weathering within bounds so that the model does not lose its legibility. Lay a gloss clear coat before the decals and unify the surface with a matte one at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
