Small modeling screws with a cross slot in the head, with the size designation 1 mm. It is an accessory for a build, which replaces flat molded fasteners on a model, not a kit or a finished model.
A cross slot is unmistakable and a viewer reads it on a model at once, which is exactly why it is sensitive to the quality of the rendering. A molded or scratched cross tends to be lopsided and once painted it merges with the surface. A separately fitted part has a regular slot deep enough to stay legible even after several coats of paint. It suits anywhere a model shows instrument panels, covers, frames, hinges and accessories.
First clear the surface of the original detail and sand it over. Drill the hole with a micro drill in a hand holder, carry the part on a dampened brush and seat it so that the slot points in the same direction as on the neighboring screws; on real vehicles their alignment tends to be random, but a row scattered too much looks restless. Glue with a drop of cyanoacrylate glue applied on a pin. Spray the paint thinly, so that the cross is not flooded, and finally pick it out with a dark wash or a panel liner.
This is an accessory for the build of a model, not a model on its own. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
