An accessory from the brand LIANG Model intended for building dioramas. It is not a kit; it is a 3D-printed aid with which prints of palms and fingers are created. While shoe prints belong on the ground, a handprint finds its use mainly higher up: on the surfaces of a vehicle, on boxes, on doors and on everything someone touched in the scene.
Contact traces are what most quickly sets a painted model apart from a model that someone operated in a story. A dirty palm printed on a fender, prints around the handle of a hatch, smeared fingers around the cap of a fuel tank or smudges on the doors of a cab: all of them are places where in reality dirt transfers from a hand onto a surface. In a scene it works in the telling as well, as a print leads the eye to where something was happening without your having to add another figure to the diorama. It finds a use just as well on muddy equipment as in a dusty civilian scene.
Make a print on a finished painted surface through a thin layer of damp pigment or paint that is not yet dry: press the surface of the tool gently into the paint, wipe the surplus off onto paper and only then lay it on the model, just as one works with a rubber stamp. Choose a light pressure, as an overdone print is visible at first glance. Into soft terrain or modeling compound it can be impressed directly, while the surface is still pliable. Do not make prints everywhere they could theoretically be; two or three in logical places do more than an area covered with palms. Once they have dried, you can mute them with a light pass of a wash.
This is a modeling aid, not a kit. Pigments, paints and modeling compound are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
