A Revell kit in 1:16, that is in a format which for a commercial vehicle means a respectably large model. The anniversary version marks seventy-five years since production of the T1 range began. The real subject is the closed panel body without side windows, the kind that carried goods to tradesmen and firms.
Series production of the Type 2 began in 1950 and built on a proven basis: an air-cooled four-cylinder at the rear, a simple box body and low running costs. Early vehicles can be told by the two-piece windshield divided by a vertical pillar, the split window. The panel version was the hardest-working of all: it did not carry tourists but baked goods, tools and spare parts.
The sides of the vehicle form extensive flat areas and those are merciless toward paint. Spray in thin coats and leave enough time between them for the surface to go tacky. If you choose a two-tone scheme, mask the dividing line carefully and lay the lighter tone down first. Finish the inside of the load area before you close the body up, as afterwards it can no longer be reached. Leave the chrome trim and the handles for last.
The box holds pieces for assembling yourself. Paints and glue are not supplied; obtain them separately.
