An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:24 scale from the Japanese brand Hasegawa. The box defines it as a Nissan 240RS with the BS110 code in the colors for the WEC in Japan event on the Fuji circuit over a distance of 1000 kilometers in 1983. It is therefore a competition car with a wide body and a stripped interior, not a production coupe.
Nissan built the 240RS on the body of the S110-generation Silvia as a homologation special for the competition Group B of the day. Under the hood worked the FJ24 inline four-cylinder engine of 2340 cc with a DOHC valvetrain, sixteen valves and carburetors; around 240 hp is quoted for the production specification, and the works cars had more. Only about two hundred were built. The best works result was second place in New Zealand in 1983; against the new generation of four-wheel-drive cars the 240RS no longer stood a chance, but it is among the most characteristic Japanese competition cars of its day.
Start with the stripped interior and the roll cage, because once the body is joined to the chassis you cannot reach them. Dry-fit the widened fenders and the add-on parts carefully before you glue them. Apply the paint with an airbrush in thin coats, overcoat with a gloss clear coat, lay on the decals, settle them with a decal softener and go over them with a second layer of clear. Leave the tires matte and bring the chassis to life with a dark wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
