An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:24 scale from the Japanese brand Hasegawa. The box defines it as a Toyota Celica 1600GT in racing trim for the Fuji Tourist Trophy endurance race over 500 miles in 1973. It is therefore a competition version with a stripped interior, not a showroom production coupe.
The first-generation Celica with the TA22 code appeared at the end of 1970 and was the first Japanese coupe built on the idea of a personal sports car with a rich choice of equipment. The 1600GT version was given the 2T-G inline four-cylinder engine of 1.6 liters with a DOHC valvetrain, which for its day was very willing to rev. The light body and rear-wheel drive made the Celica a regular entrant in Japanese circuit races and European rallies in the first half of the 1970s.
With a racing version start with the interior and the roll cage, because once the body is joined to the chassis you cannot reach them. Smooth the body, spray it with filler primer and only then paint. Lay the decals over a gloss clear coat, settle them with a decal softener and overcoat them so that the edges are not noticeable. Bring the wheel rims and the exhaust to life with metallic shades and use a dark wash on the chassis to pick out the detail.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
