An injection-molded plastic kit of the American sports car in 1:25 scale from the manufacturer Revell. The model consists of 141 parts and contains a multi-part V8 engine, which is visible under a movable rear cover, as well as a well worked out cockpit, wheels with rubber tires, waterslide decals and multilingual instructions. The finished model measures approximately 186 mm. It is a classic kit with gluing and painting - it is not an easy-click (snap-fit) set. The manufacturer places it at a difficulty level for more advanced beginners.
The Corvette of the C8 generation, introduced for the 2020 model year, is the first Corvette in the seventy-year history of the model with a mid-mounted engine - until then the engine had always sat at the front. It is a fundamental break: moving the eight-cylinder behind the cabin changed the weight distribution, the proportions and the whole character of the car, which thereby came technically closer to European supercars. Under the cover sits a naturally aspirated eight-cylinder, on the convertible completed by a retractable hardtop. The body is low, wide and aggressive, with sharp edges and large intake openings on the sides.
The basis of a good result is a perfectly smooth body: carefully sand the parting seams and the traces of the sprue gates, because gloss shows every mistake. Work through a filler (primer), then color with an airbrush in several thin layers. It pays to paint and shade the V8 engine before closing the rear end - it will be visible under the hinged cover. Once the decals are on, spray the body with clear varnish and, once it has cured, polish it with polishing compound - only that creates the wet, deep gloss that a real Corvette has. Do not varnish the rubber tires at all; fit the chrome and clear parts with a glue that will not fog them.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
