Figures in 1:35 scale

1:35 is the most widely used scale for models of military vehicles. An adult figure in it measures around five centimeters, so the face, the equipment and the folds of the clothing are all clearly visible on the figure. That is exactly why figures are bought: they give a finished model a sense of scale and a story. With no figure beside it a vehicle looks like an object without size; with a figure you can see at once how high the side of the cargo bed was or how low the driver sat.

Assembly

The parts are separated with sprue cutters and the remains of the gate are sanded down so that no stub is left anywhere. The joints on a figure usually run at the shoulder, at the waist and at the head; it is good to go over the glued area with a thin layer of filler and sand it down, so that the transition does not show. For gluing, use a cement intended for plastic kits. Before painting, wash the figure and degrease it; grease from your fingers shows under paint immediately.

Painting

A figure is painted in layers. A flat shade goes on as the base, then a wash into the folds, and finally the raised areas are lightened. Leave the face and hands for last and work on them in good light. Apply the paint thinly and rather several times over; a thick layer floods the fine relief of the equipment.
