This is an add-on set in 1:35 scale, not a model of the rocket launcher. According to the name it holds six pieces of 30 cm caliber rockets together with steel transport crates. The set belongs in dioramas with German rocket artillery, in supply scenes and on the bed of a vehicle.
Rockets of 30 cm caliber represented a later step in the development of German rocket artillery. Against the older heavy types they had a better ratio between range and effect, because a greater part of the weight went to the propellant charge instead of to the warhead. They were fired both from towed equipment with a bundle of guide rails and directly out of the transport crating laid on a simple frame, and it is exactly here that telling the wooden and the steel version apart makes sense, because each of them answers to a different arrangement. The salvo was impressive, but the trail of smoke gave the position away at once, so the crew moved on after firing.
Steel crating will take a different patina than wood: chipped paint, corrosion where it has been scuffed, a dark wash around the welds and the fittings. Arrange the crates unevenly, one empty and open, one still loaded. The small parts are joined with a glue of short setting time, and it pays to work over a light surface.
