This is an add-on set in 1:35 scale, not a vehicle kit. According to the name it holds ten pieces of German jerrycans with the ABP marking and the year 1939. It serves to fit out models of equipment further and to bring to life dioramas in which fuel was carried in exactly these containers.
The German standard jerrycan, brought into service in the second half of the nineteen-thirties, belongs among the best-known items of field equipment there are. The container of twenty liters had three handles side by side, so that one man carried it by the middle one and two men could share it without putting it down. The cross-shaped swages pressed into the sides stiffened the body and at the same time left the contents room in a frost. The design was so successful that during the war the Allies took it over too, and essentially unchanged it is made to this day. On the side the maker's abbreviation and the year were usually stamped, and it is precisely this detail that tells the individual sets of this range apart.
Jerrycans appear on models on the fenders, in clamps on the hull and stacked loose in the cargo. Do not let them blend in with the vehicle in color completely; most were in the base shade of the equipment, but among them a piece with a different coat or with markings for the kind of contents is often to be found. The detail stands out after a dark wash into the recesses and after a light dry brush on the edges and the handles.
