About product

The real subject

The Kriegsmarine was the German war navy of the Second World War. Its members served on surface ships, on submarines and with coastal batteries, so a figure of a sailor suits an equally wide range of scenes: on a deck, by a gun, on a jetty beside a moored craft or by a part-built model of a submarine. In 1:35 scale an adult figure measures around five centimeters, which is a size at which both the expression of the face and the cut of the uniform can be seen.

What the set contains

One figure of a Kriegsmarine sailor in 1:35 scale. How many parts it is made up of and how the individual sections are joined is given in the manufacturer's instructions. The figure is intended for assembly and painting according to your own idea of the resulting scene.

Building and painting tips

Cut any excess material away with a sharp blade a little clear of the part and sand the remainder back carefully, so that the folds of the cloth stay whole. Fill and sand the seams where the arms and the head join, otherwise they show once painted. Before painting, wash the figure, degrease it and apply a primer. Paint the face and the hands first and only then the uniform; the opposite order leads to smearing flesh color over the dark cloth. Finally, bring out the shade of the uniform with a darker wash in the folds and a gentle lightening of the raised areas.

Who it is for

For modelers of ships and submarines who feel a finished model lacks human scale, and for builders of dioramas with a harbor or coastal scene. Paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.

FAQ

In 1:35 scale an adult figure works out at roughly five centimeters. It therefore matches models of ships, submarines and military equipment in the same scale.

They are not, unless stated otherwise. Count on paints for the uniform and the face and on glue chosen according to the material of the parts.

After the primer, first the face and the hands, then the uniform. Finally bring out the folds with a wash and lighten the raised areas slightly.

With a model of a surface ship or a submarine, with a coastal gun and in a harbor diorama. It gives a model the scale that the equipment alone lacks.
