This ICM accessory set in 1:35 scale combines two elements of military support: a universal military pod and parts of the American M8A1 landing mat. Both widen the possibilities of a scene around a model, because they bring into a diorama what a finished machine lacks, that is the setting in which the equipment moved.
The M8A1 landing mat is an American solution for a hardened surface in field conditions. The perforated panels were laid on prepared ground and joined to one another into a continuous surface over which equipment could taxi safely even where soft or muddy ground would otherwise not hold. In a diorama it therefore gives a field position away at first glance.
Cut the excess material away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the surface. Wash and degrease the parts before painting. The panels of the landing mat stand out when, after the base color, you dust them with a pigment in the shade of the surrounding soil and accent with a lighter shade the edges over which equipment taxied. Leave the joints between the panels a shade darker so that the assembled surface does not look like one piece. The order in which the panels are laid is given in the instructions enclosed with the set.
The set suits modelers who are building a scene in 1:35 scale and want to place it in the setting of a field position instead of on a bare base. The paints, the glue and other materials are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
