A set of unassembled plastic figures in 1:35. It is not a model of a vehicle and not a set of finished painted figures, but kit moldings that have to be separated from the sprue, glued and painted. Check the contents of the package, including the number of figures and their poses, against the instructions.
Trench warfare on the Western Front brought, among other things, attempts to protect soldiers with steel plates. What became known as trench armor consisted of a breastplate and several further segments, and it was completed by a reinforced attachment for the helmet. The construction was heavy and restricted movement, so it was used mainly at static posts, at machine gun nests and by observers, where a soldier did not have to cover much ground. It is exactly this silhouette that is interesting for a modeler: a figure in body armor differs from ordinary infantry at first glance and in a diorama it immediately sets the time and place of the scene.
Glue the figures with liquid cement for polystyrene and sand the parting seams on the sleeves and the trouser legs carefully, because in a small scale every line otherwise shows. Apply the primer from a spray can or with an airbrush, and only then build up the colors. Keep the uniform and the equipment in rather muted tones and create the volume of the folds with glazes and shading, not with sharp transitions. Steel armor looks good as a dark metallic base with fine graphite polishing on the edges. Do the faces and the hands last, ideally with oil paints, which can be worked for a long time. Finally unify the whole figure with a matte coat.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
