An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Cessna O-2A Skymaster aircraft in 1:48 scale from ICM. The model offers finely engraved surfaces, a well worked out interior with instrumentation and the option of building the characteristic twin-engine fuselage with a pusher and a tractor propeller. The package holds decals for several machines of the Vietnam War period.
The O-2A was the military version of the civil Cessna 337 Super Skymaster with its engines arranged on the centerline of the fuselage (one at the front, the other at the rear). The US Air Force deployed it from 1967 as a forward air control (FAC) aircraft in Vietnam, where it served for observation, marking targets and coordinating strikes. It was marked by a good field of view and long endurance.
The cabin and the extensive radio equipment make up a prominent part of the build, so it pays to give the interior attention before closing the fuselage up. Thin liquid cement for plastic, a base primer and an airbrush are recommended. Mask the glazing and keep the weathering restrained, as suits the working service of the aircraft.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
