An injection-molded plastic kit of the French Dassault Rafale in the C version in 1:48 scale from Revell. It is a rebox - Revell is issuing an older tooling here, whose origins go back to the turn of the millennium and which has appeared over time in several Rafale versions. According to the manufacturer the box holds over two hundred parts: a split fuselage with integral cockpit and wheel wells, a separate spine and fin, a well worked-out cockpit with an ejection seat, a detailed landing gear, engine nozzles, a jamming pod, drop tanks and a rich fit of armament - laser-guided bombs, air-to-air missiles and air-launched missiles. The decals offer two schemes of French Air Force machines, including a striking colorful tiger scheme, together with an extensive sheet of technical stenciling for the airframe and the stores.
The Rafale is a modern French multirole fighter that handles air combat, attacks on ground targets and reconnaissance in a single sortie. Its aerodynamic shape is unmistakable: a delta wing combined with foreplanes (canards) close to the cockpit. That pair of surfaces gives the aircraft high agility and a short takeoff and landing, because the canard directs the airflow onto the wing and holds lift even at high angles of attack. The C version is the single-seat land-based one for the French Air Force - and beware of the confusion: the Rafale B is the two-seat land-based version and the Rafale M is the carrier version for aircraft carriers, with strengthened landing gear and an arrestor hook. What you are building is therefore a single-seat machine from a land base, not a carrier aircraft.
Glue with thin cement for plastic, and finish and paint the cockpit and the wells before you close the fuselage. The air intakes do not have full ducts - blacken the inside so that the view into them does not look empty. Apply primer before painting; spray the gray Rafale camouflage with an airbrush and play with a fine shading of the individual panels. With the tiger scheme it pays to coat the surface with gloss varnish, settle the decals with a decal softener and finally unify the surface with a satin or matte coat. It is practical to paint the underwing stores separately and attach them at the end.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
