This plastic set in 1:48 scale faithfully captures the American M8A1 pierced steel airfield matting. It is not a model of an aircraft or a vehicle but a striking base panel that, once glued and painted, you can use as a base under aircraft or military models, or as an element of a diorama. The finished panel measures roughly 153x245 mm.
The portable M8A1 steel mats were joined to one another into a continuous surface and made it possible to reinforce a road quickly or to build a temporary airfield. They were widely used above all during the war in Vietnam, when American army engineer units laid them.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
