Responsibility details are not available.
Injection-molded plastic kit of the British Supermarine Spitfire Mk.VIII fighter in 1:48 scale from ICM, in the form of a machine of the US Army Air Forces. The Mk.VIII was the unpressurized version intended for overseas theaters. The kit offers finely engraved surface detail, a well worked-out cockpit, a clear canopy and decals for American machines.
The Spitfire Mk.VIII was based on the high-altitude Mk.VII but lacked the pressurized cabin and was adapted for use outside Europe. It served mainly in the Mediterranean, in the Pacific and in the Burma-India theater, and besides the RAF it was used by American and Australian squadrons. After the Mk.IX and Mk.V versions it was the third most widely deployed variant of the Spitfire. The American machines of the 31st Fighter Group in Italy are among its best-known users.
Use liquid cement for plastic and build in subassemblies. Finish and paint the cockpit before you close up the fuselage. Lay down a primer and apply the paints with an airbrush; with desert schemes you will appreciate restrained weathering of dust and sun wear. Protect the glazing with masks for clean edges.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
