An injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary American Bell UH-1D Iroquois helicopter, nicknamed the Huey, in the popular 1:48 scale from Italeri. The kit is molded in gray plastic, contains clear parts for the cabin glazing and a decal sheet with several marking options. The UH-1D is the stretched transport version with one turboshaft engine and a roomy cabin — in modeling slang a slick, that is an unarmed transport machine.
The Bell UH-1 Iroquois is among the best known helicopters in history and became a symbol of the American war in Vietnam. Compared with earlier machines, the UH-1D version had a stretched cabin with greater capacity for troops and for the wounded. It is powered by one turboshaft engine, and the main rotor is a two-blade one with its characteristic sound, completed by a tail rotor. The Huey was used for transport, medical evacuation and inserting troops.
Finish and paint the cabin interior before you close the fuselage — on a slick the seats and the floor are visible through the glazed doors. Use a thin cement on the plastic. Mask the glazing and glue it with an adhesive for clear parts so that it does not fog. Apply a primer before painting; olive green camouflage suits an airbrush and a following wash into the panel lines. Fit the two-blade rotors so that they stay in plane. Open side doors will heighten the effect of the cabin.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
