Clear Prop A5M2b Claude late version 1:72 (clear canopy)

A vacuum-formed clear canopy glazing for a model of the Japanese A5M2b Claude fighter in the late version, in 1:72 scale, from Clear Prop. It is NOT a model of an aircraft but an accessory, a replacement canopy, which takes the place of the original glazing and allows cleaner and thinner glazing.

The real subject

The A5M, known under the Allied designation Claude, was a Japanese carrier fighter with fixed landing gear, a pioneer of all-metal construction in its class. The late A5M2b versions differed from the earlier ones in details of the cockpit and the equipment.

Use

• cut the part from the sheet and clean the edges up along the frame of the glazing
• glue it with clear canopy glue or spot it with cyanoacrylate
• mask the frames and spray them, and protect the clear area from fogging
• thin vacuum-formed glazing looks truer than a thicker injection-molded part
