An injection-molded plastic kit of the Czechoslovak fighter biplane Avia B-534 in 1:72 scale from Smer. It is a classic kit of the older kind from convex tooling, intended to be glued and painted. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The exact contents of the box and the number of decal options are given on the enclosed data sheet.
The Avia B-534 was a Czechoslovak single-seat fighter biplane of the 1930s and was among the best in its category. It was powered by a liquid-cooled V12 engine and armed with four machine guns. The machine was distinguished by its fixed landing gear and, in the later production batches, an enclosed cockpit. In its day it was one of the most capable biplane fighters in the world, yet it became a witness to the twilight of the biplane era on the eve of the Second World War. It served in the Czechoslovak Air Force and later with other users too.
First clean the parts of sprue gates and any flash, glue them with liquid modeling cement for plastic and sand the seams once dry. On a biplane, pay attention to the precise seating of the upper wing and the struts; gluing step by step and holding the parts until dry helps. Spray the model with a primer before painting. Interwar and wartime camouflage comes out best with an airbrush; the small markings are carried by waterslide decals, which are blended in with a layer of clear coat once dry. With older tooling, expect the usual clean-up of the parts before building.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
