An injection-molded plastic model of the Soviet fighter aircraft Polikarpov I-16 type 18 in 1:72 scale from the Ukrainian manufacturer ICM. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted; it is a classic plastic kit to be glued and painted. You will find the exact package contents and the range of markings in the enclosed instructions.
The I-16 was a Soviet single-seat low-wing fighter with retractable landing gear and a short barrel-shaped fuselage. The type 18 version received the M-62 radial engine, which compared with the earlier types raised its performance and reliability, and it carried machine gun armament. It entered service around 1939 and was used in the fighting at the Khalkhin Gol river against Japan and in the Soviet-Finnish Winter War.
Paint the cockpit and the radial engine and pick them out before closing the fuselage, because later you will not get at them. Take care over clean filling of the barrel-shaped sides. Apply the base over primer with an airbrush; metal as well as camouflage finishes come out well with a fine wash into the panel lines and a light exhaust patina. Fit the small wing parts only after the base color has been sprayed.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
