Model of the Soviet MiG-23MLD fighter in 1:72 scale. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted, and the span of the finished model depends on the position of the wing.
Responsibility details are not available.
The MiG-23 is a single-seat fighter with a variable-sweep wing, Flogger in the NATO code name. The pilot sets the sweep of the wing in flight: the spread wing shortens take-off and landing, while the swept wing reduces drag at high speed. The aircraft is powered by a single engine with an afterburner, and air reaches it through side intakes with variable ramps. The MLD version is a late development variant of the whole series.
It is a kit, that is a set of parts from which you build and paint the model yourself. The scope of the box, the number of parts and the color options offered are given in the manufacturer's instructions, which you should follow during the build, because the order of the steps on models with a moving wing differs from an ordinary build.
Before you glue the fuselage together, decide what position the wing will be in on the finished model and proceed accordingly. The cockpit, the landing gear bays and the inside of the air intakes are painted before you close them up, because you will not reach them later. Glue the glazing with a cement made for clear parts that leaves no fogging, and fit it only after the surrounding surface has been sprayed. Go over the seams on the underside of the fuselage with fine grit paper after filling and wash the surface again, or the dust will settle into the paint.
The model suits modelers with experience of building aircraft who want a Cold War machine in the usual aircraft scale for their collection. Paints, glue and tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
